Why This Reference Exists
Printed Commerce City directories may have ended, but the source records still exist in separate hands. The Adams County Assessor connects owners to parcels, while the Adams County Clerk & Recorder indexes deeds, plats, and other recorded documents. The Commerce City City Clerk maintains municipal records, licenses, elections, and historical city material. Court files follow the Colorado Judicial Branch, while CDPHE is the state vital-record custodian. Directory volumes and local context are reached through the Denver Public Library, Anythink, the Conter Heritage Center, and the State Archives. The reference brings office names, portal links, and access limits together so Commerce City research can start with the custodian most likely to hold the answer.
What the Reference Provides
- Pages by angle: the street directory for address-keyed records, the city directory for the historical shelf, and the resident lookup for one-person searches
- Named custodians: the Adams County Assessor, Adams County Clerk & Recorder, Commerce City City Clerk, Colorado Judicial Branch, and CDPHE vital-records office
- Research routes: ways to follow a street, read a directory entry, use local history resources, and trace a household across time
- Colorado access rules: what the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA), C.R.S. ยงยง24-72-201 et seq. opens, what remains restricted, and how a request works when a record is not online
What This Reference Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference service, separate from Commerce City, Adams County, Colorado agencies, the courts, and libraries. Some limits are firm:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Commerce City
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Use public records for lawful personal research, never to stalk, harass, or harm anyone. Nothing found here may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
